Nestled in the rolling hills of Northern Victoria this recently built south facing 5-acre property looks out towards the High Country and Mount Buffalo, making it the perfect location for this large open entertainment deck.

Covering 50+ square metres, and utilising nearly half a lineal kilometre of Merbau decking, this project certainly improved the function of the site, tying together the 2 existing concrete alfresco areas into one, connected entertainment area capable of accommodating dozens of guests when required.

Clever design and construction methods were used to build this deck given the less than 300mm of clearance to the dirt below floor level, 14 footings were dug for the stirrups, and more than 50 concrete anchors were used to fix the brackets supporting the joists to the concrete slabs.

The suspended step on the angled edge was a late addition to the project after the client requested its inclusion.
It really is the highlight of the deck and with its broad width, it invites guests up onto the timbers from the driveway beyond.

With the subsequent addition of a 15 metre in-ground solar heated pool (to the left of the above image) this property has indeed become a very comfortable place for this retired couple to enjoy for many years to come
